Dr. Clarke was raised in the Washington, D.C. area and attended the University of Virginia for undergraduate and medical school. He attended the University of North Carolina for internal medicine residency, where he was awarded the Chairman's Award for scholarly excellence and consistent delivery of high quality care. While at UNC, Dr. Clarke researched Crohn's disease with national leaders in the field of inflammatory bowel disease.
Dr. Clarke completed his fellowship in gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he researched pancreatic disease and was the lead author on numerous publications and presentations on the topic. He then completed a one year fellowship in advanced endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, and management of complex pancreas/biliary disease and Barrett's esophagus. Dr. Clarke is one of the first physicians to receive this advanced training and enter private practice in the Pittsburgh area.
Dr. Clarke previously served as the Chief of Gastroenterology and Director of Advanced endoscopy at AHN Jefferson Hospital before joining the practice.
